16-Year-Old Dog Rescued and Given a Second Chance at Life by Kind Stranger!

Old dogs are often overlooked in shelters, and their time left is limited. When Zack Schou, co-founder of Marleys Mutts and Pawsitive Change initiative, visited a Tehachapi shelter, he saw an old dog named Henry who had been there for a long time. At 16 years old, Henry's coat had faded, and he moved and ate slowly. Zack couldn't bear the thought of Henry ending his life in a shelter, so he decided to become Henry's adoptive father and find him a loving home.

In March 2021, Zack took Henry to the vet and discovered he had testicular cancer. Despite his age and illness, Henry was a fighter. He underwent surgery and surprised everyone with his tenacity and determination to recover. Zack was amazed to see Henry grow stronger every day.

Despite his attachment to Henry, Zack knew that finding him a new home was the best option. A kind woman heard Henry's story and offered to care for him. Henry quickly settled into his new home and found happiness with his new mother. Zack's compassion gave Henry a second chance at life, and he now spends his days loved and cared for.
